Theresa May’s Cabinet will “collapse in chaos” if ministers do not stop the “unprecedented” in-fighting currently being played out in public, one of the Conservative Party’s most respected figures has warned.
Simultaneous battles over the leadership, Brexit and public sector pay have left the Cabinet in a “very dangerous” position, according to the former chancellor Lord Lamont.
Senior Conservatives are said to be concerned that a “shrivelled” Theresa May is struggling to control her squabbling ministers, increasing speculation that she could be forced to stand down soon after the party conference in October.
